The Beginning of Nappi Baby's Bamboo Fiber Baby Products & Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)

Concerns of Mother Pam (Narisa Isarangkun Na Ayudhya), mother of a 9-month-old daughter diagnosed with Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)

VUR is a kidney abnormality that increases the risk of infection due to urine flowing backward. To prevent infections, doctors recommended using white muslin diapers as much as possible instead of disposable ones. Mother Pam carefully searched for the best muslin diapers and discovered the excellent qualities of bamboo fiber muslin, which is natural, very soft, chemical-free, and non-fluorescent, making it ideal for sensitive baby skin.

The Day the Sky Collapsed

In September 2013, Prodprahn, the 9-month-old daughter of Mother Pam, had a high fever of unknown cause. After 21 days of hospitalization and diagnosis, doctors revealed that Prodprahn had a congenital condition called Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR), a urinary tract abnormality that causes urine to flow backward and can lead to kidney infections. Prodprahn was diagnosed with grade 4 VUR (with 5 being the highest). The doctors advised surgery at age 6.

The Scarcity of Safe Products in the Market

The initial advice from the doctor was to temporarily stop using disposable diapers to reduce the risk of recurring infections that could damage the kidneys. Instead, white muslin diapers were recommended to monitor any abnormalities in urine and to change diapers immediately after urination. However, Prodprahn experienced allergic reactions from using those diapers, which led Mother Pam to discover that white diapers often contained chemicals, fluorescent agents, and bleaching agents that could cause allergies in babies.

The Beginning of a Journey

Mother Pam decided to produce unbleached bamboo fiber muslin diapers free from fluorescent agents and harmful chemicals. These diapers, made from extremely soft bamboo fibers, ensured the safest and most comfortable option for her daughter. This venture expanded into other bamboo fiber products, such as blankets, gloves, and swaddles, under the brand name Nappi Baby. Mother Pam elevated Nappi Baby's production standards to ensure that every product was free from harmful chemicals, fluorescent agents, and heavy metals, and environmentally friendly. Nappi Baby products received OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certification, the highest safety standard for children from newborns to three years old, from the international textile and leather research and testing institute.

Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond

At age 6, miraculously, when doctors prepared for surgery, they found that Prodprahn was cured of VUR and no longer required surgery. Whether due to a miracle or the love and care from her family and doctors, Mother Pam's happiness in creating Nappi Baby products continues to grow. Nappi Baby bamboo fiber diapers and products are available in Thailand and many countries worldwide. Today, Mother Pam continues to develop Nappi Baby products to ensure softness, safety, and quality, aiming to bring peace of mind to all parents, because when babies are comfortable, parents are happy.

Our products are free from Formaldehyde, Fluorescent, Phthalate and heavy metals, and are dyed with a special Azo-dye that is very safe for babys delicate skin.
